5 Reasons Why It Is Important To Arrive Early

Oh, tardiness.

A marking distinction of the black community! What we call it differs across many black cultures, but some notable terms are BPT (Black People Time) and African Time.

But what if I told you that the culture of lateness is disrespectful? Not only to others, but to yourself. Arriving early to your commitments is a form of self love, self-respect, and an indication of a prosperous future.

Believe it or not, arriving early gives you extra time, and that is absolutely something we all need.

I used to be late to everything, every time. Whether it was work, class, or an event — I was late. As I entered my destinations tardily, disorganized, and sweaty from rushing, I felt so guilty because everyone was already there. I felt insecure and self conscious because of my own wrongdoing. “Sorry I’m late” became my slogan. This continued on for years until I discovered that these were not feelings I wanted to have for the rest of my life. So I took control and made a change.

Here Are 5 Reasons Why It’s Important To Be Early:

  1. You will reduce the amount of stress and anxiety in your life.
  2. You will develop more trust and respect for yourself.
  3. You will feel more “in control” of your day.
  4. You will be more prepared for what the day has to come.
  5. You will be inclined to make more positive decisions throughout the day.

Time is a commodity, what you choose to do with it determines your life.
