Hard Truths About Manifestation

Manifestation, or most popularly known as the Law of Attraction, is marketed as a smooth and easy spiritual process in which you simply Ask, Believe, Receive. However, what they have failed to teach us is that there is much more to the manifestation process. There are twists and turns, cancellations and reflections, even blockages and therapy!

1. You’re Going To Need Therapy

In order to achieve your future dreams, you need to release your past hurts and discover possible mental blockages (see #2) in order to create an internal environment that is not only ready to receive, but to keep the manifestation.

With therapy, you’ll learn healthier thought patterns, uncover suppressed emotions and memories, and form a higher self awareness. This is all tied to becoming a more skillful manifestor, creating with ease and freedom.

2. Do You Even Believe It’s Possible?

Similar to #1, belief is the most important factor in manifestation. However, it is very common for a lot of people (especially black people, who have been raised on “survival”) to have mental blocks that prevent them from believing their dreams are possible.

There is no such thing as manifestation without belief. As stated in #1, therapy is a great tool to relieve emotional trauma linked to our self-worth and our belief of what’s possible or not. Also, practicing affirmations, meditation, and talking to the ancestors (prayer) can prove useful in expanding the mind.

3. Why Do You Really Want It? (Intention-checking)

Is it because your homegirls have it? Or because you know your family would be happy if you get it? Or would it simply just please your ego?

“Intention-checking” is what BGWM likes to call the act of one understanding the motive behind a desire. When you ask “why do I want it?”, and none of your answers consist of “because it will make the world a better place”, “it will serve me in the long run”, or “because it will set me and my family/descendants right for life”, then you need to realize that ego is at the forefront here. It is not bad at all to want something for yourself, but if your intentions are purely selfish or for instant gratification, then go back to the drawing board and revise your order (see #4).

4. You May Have To Go Back And Revise Your Order

Once you’ve asked for, written down, or prayed about your desire, that doesn’t mean you can never touch it again. The Universe is constantly evolving (as are you), wants and needs change all the time. Tweaking your desire is not a problem, nor does it “confuse” the Universe or delay your desire from arriving. In fact, it can give you more confidence in the manifestation process, because you are ensuring that what you are manifesting is exactly what you want and are aligning with.

5. You Might Receive A “Near” Manifestation Before The Real Thing Appears

So you’ve been waiting for your desire to appear for a while now, you’ve just about given up, then suddenly something appears. It looks like it, talks like it, fits your list completely, however, there is something “off” that you should pay attention to.

It’s human nature to mentally project a perfect image of something we really desire. For example, if you really like somebody, you’re going to paint them as the perfect man/woman, and almost force the relationship to work even if there are red flags. This is related to the signs of a “near-manifestation”, since with it you may choose to ignore warning signals the Universe sends you, because it seems to fit everything on your list and you believe this is it. See #8.

A lot of times before the the real thing, you may be sent a near manifestation first, to test three things;

1. To see if you really want your desire,

2. to test your discernment level, and

3. to gauge your level of self-worth.

6. You Must Take Action

This point is stating the obvious but it needs to be said: Put.In.The.Work.

While yes, this Universe is truly magical and things can really appear out of nowhere, do yourself a favour and speed up the process by taking the required action for your manifestation. This helps you with alignment by putting you in the mental, spiritual, and physical preparedness strong enough to invite a desire into your life.

7. Don’t Tell Everyone About it

Ideally, keep your goals, dreams, and desires to yourself. Unless you know the person you are telling is trustworthy and well-intentioned. Staying silent about it protects your manifestation/desire from any possible negative energy that could mess things up for you.

8. Your Manifestation Is Not The End-All-Be-All

Just because you manifested it, doesn’t mean you have to keep it. Not all manifestations are perfect. You are free to manifest something better or move on to something else.
